Setting up Border Crossing

Border crossing is managed by your customs broker.  If you are moving your machine between countries you MUST use a customs broker to enable passage through the border.

A customs broker is not optional for items above $800USD value[a]. If you fail to arrange passage or any documents are missing your items will be turned around and either returned to us, or stored until they can be cleared with your broker.

[a] If below $800USD, you will need to provide an invoice only, correct as of February 2017.

What is a customs broker?

Customs brokers are private individuals, partnerships, associations or corporations licensed, regulated and empowered to assist importers and exporters in meeting Federal requirements governing imports and exports. Brokers submit necessary information and appropriate payments on behalf of their clients and charge them a fee for this service.[i]

How do I setup brokerage for a shipment?

We recommend getting in contact with A&A Customs Contract Brokers  (1-800-663-4270) and inform them about setting up an account. You will be required to provide your personal/business information along with payment details. Once your account is setup, the following documents must be completed and forwarded to docs@aacbusa.com:

It is important to have all documents completed and cleared by A&A prior to shipping to avoid delays and additional charges. Once your brokerage is cleared, you must send us your commercial invoice to sales@coastmachinery.com. Freight carriers will refuse to take the items if they do not have this.
